Neck Liposuction

Liposuction of the neck is a very safe and effective method to re-contour the neck, improve the definition of the jawline, and reduce a “double chin”. As an isolated procedure, the best results are achieved in select patients who have good skin tone and do not have excessive laxity of neck muscles. The liposuction is performed using a tumescent (salt water anesthetic) solution which is infiltrated beneath the skin into the fat accumulations. No general anesthetic is necessary. This solution numbs the area and allows the easy extraction of fat from beneath the jawline. A thin straw-like cannula is inserted through three tiny ports and the fat is extracted. The end point is achieved when a symmetric amount is removed. Following removal of fat, the overlying skin will contract and conform to the new shape. While at home you will be given a neck support which will reduce swelling and accelerate healing. The next day , you can expect some bruising and tenderness the but this quickly resolves. Usually within 48 hours you can resume your daily activities.
