Facial Line Fillers - Restylane, Restylane Fine, Restylane SubQ, PerlaneAreas that can be restored to a more youthful contour include: Forehead linesEyelid lines Smile lines (nasolabial lines) Lips for definition and volume restoration Elevation of depressed scars. These substances, synthetic sugar-gels (hyaluronic acid) are naturally found in the body. They are produced by microbial engineering and are not derived from animal sources. Therefore they rarely produce allergic reactions. When painlessly injected beneath the skin, they fill in depressions and lines of the skin to restore volume and plump-up the skin. The effect is immediate—instant gratification. Restylane and Perlane are made up of the same material (hyaluronic acid), but differ in their viscosities (thickness). The precise selection of which filler to use is based on the particular area that needs treatment. Finer lines require thinner gels, and deeper depressions require thicker gels. Restylane is typically used for finer lines whereas Perlane is used for deeper lines. The procedure is performed in the office. A topical anesthetic ointment (similar to novocaine) is applied over the smile lines on the side of your mouth or lips. After 10 minutes, small droplets are painlessly injected to a precise depth beneath the lines. This elevates the wrinkle or depression and restores the volume to the face. Following treatment, the skin may appear pink, but this usually resolves quickly. You may return immediately to your normal activities.
